Scott Goldman grew up in Cincinnati, OH and started playing music
very young. At age 10, he was given his very first guitar (nylon string) and
received lessons from his very musical father, Rich Goldman. At age 16 he was
given his first steel string acoustic guitar for his birthday. Over the next two
years he took more lessons from Lloyd Hazelbaker (knows every chord on the
planet) and Bobby Fisher (master of guitar solos). But when his 18th birthday
hit and he was given his Dad's bright red Fender stratocaster electric guitar,
playing music was no longer just a hobby, but a way of life. Over the next few
years he would play his first live performances with high school buddies, Eugene Kim and Ilya
Rosenfeld. He started his first band (Phat Sheila) at Ohio State and also played
a number of solo shows. Towards the end of his college years, he would even play
shows with the whole family (Rich, Ellie, Jess, Lucky, Seven, Shake, and Pete). In
2000, he moved out to California and eventually played in a band with Jeremy Buck. But in early
2004, he discovered the magic of the loop station. The loop station is a guitar effects
peddle that can actually record a guitar segment while playing a live show.
After a loop is defined by tapping the peddle once - playing guitar for a while
- and tapping the peddle again, more layers of guitar can be added on top of the
loop. By the end of song, one might have 5 or more guitars all playing at once!!
Scott now plays shows using loop stations in Southern California. On special
occasions, he is accompanied by his parents (Rich and Ellie) and/or his sister,
Jess GoldLady. Rich has been a great guitarist and drummer for decades and now
owns the music business, Riptide Music. Ellie and Jess GoldLady
are absolutely incredible singers and also play guitar and keys. The shows section of
this website, will also indicate when Rich, Ellie, and Jess will be performing
with Scott.
